Synopsis – Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed-to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

Synopsis – Two magicians who used to be partners battle over years in order to create a flawless method for the ultimate disappearing trick, “the Transported Man”, turns into an informal war between them and soon, they will do anything to be able to preform the trick sooner and better than the other; which as time passes makes their friends and loved ones get away from them and little-by-little destroys their lives until they eventually succeed to preform the trick- each by a very different way.

Synopsis – Kris is attacked one night, and hypnotized, using a grub with hypnotic properties, administered by a thief. She follows the thief’s instructions to give him everything, even taking out loans. After the worms are extracted, she wakes up to find her life ruined. She’s lost her job, her finances are destroyed. Years later, she meets Jeff whom she may have a lot in common with.
7. Fight Club
Synopsis – Fight Club is a 1999 film based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. The film was directed by David Fincher and stars Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. Norton plays the unnamed protagonist, referred to as the narrator, who is discontent with his white-collar job. He forms a “fight club” with soap maker Tyler Durden, played by Pitt, and they are joined by men who also want to fight recreationally. The narrator becomes embroiled in a relationship with Durden and a dissolute woman, Marla Singer, played by Bonham Carter. Together the two men spiral out of control and engage in competitive rivalry for love and power. When the narrator is exposed to the hidden agenda of Tyler’s fight club, he must accept the awful truth that Tyler may not be who he says he is.

Synopsis – The film takes place in Boston. Irish Mob boss Francis “Frank” Costello (Jack Nicholson) plants Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) as a mole within the Massachusetts State Police; the two characters are loosely based on famous gangster Whitey Bulger and corrupt FBI agent John Connolly, who grew up with Bulger. Simultaneously, the police assign undercover state trooper William “Billy” Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) to infiltrate Costello’s crew. When both sides realize the situation, Sullivan and Costigan each attempt to discover the other’s identity before they are found out.

Synopsis – When Cole, a convict volunteer, is sent back in time to find information on a deadly virus that will destroy 5,000,000,000 members of the human race in 1996-1997, he mistakenly arrives in 1990. After explaining his plea to Dr. Kathryn Railly, he is placed in a mental institution. In 1996, he kidnaps Railly, using her to find the 12 Monkeys, a group of revolutionists that are planning to release the virus into select cities. But, he is wanted by the authorities for murder and kidnapping, plus he refuses to return to the future; he is in love with Railly.
Synopsis – At night and on weekends, four men in a suburban garage have built a cottage industry of error-checking devices. But, they know that there is something more. There is some idea, some mechanism, some accidental side effect that is standing between them and a pure leap of innovation. And so, through trial and error they are building the device that is missing most. However, two of these men find the device and immediately realize that it is too valuable to market. The limit of their trust in each other is strained when they are faced with the question, If you always want what you can’t have, what do you want when you can have anything?

Synopsis – Tokyo’s nasty underside, seen primarily through the eyes of Oscar, a heavy drug user, whose sister Linda is a stripper. Oscar also has flashbacks to his childhood when trauma upends the siblings. Oscar’s drug-fed hallucinations alter Tokyo’s already-disconcerting nights, and after the police shoot him, he can float above and look down: on his sister’s sorrow, on the rooms of a love hotel, and on life at even a molecular level. The spectrum’s colors can be beautiful; it’s people’s colorless lives that can be ugly. And what of afterlife, is there more than a void?
Synopsis – A memory inside a memory, Memento is a complicated head spinning adventure. Leonard is determined to avenge his wife’s murder. However, unable to remember anything that happens day-to-day due to a condition he sustained, short term memory loss, he has to write himself note after note that still don’t mean anything after he falls asleep. The film goes back in time to reveal each little bit of the puzzle as he tries to find out the person who killed his wife and makes the audience feel just as confused as he is. The narrative closely follows a phone call Pearce has in which he talks about Sammy Jankis a former client of his who he believed had the same condition. The film takes an unexpected twist as the two characters have a lot more in common than is initially put across.

Synopsis – Thomas A. Anderson ids a man leading a double life. By day, he isu an average computer programmer who pays his taxes and helps his landlady take out the garbage. At night, he is a computer hacker by the name of Neo. He finds himself targeted by police when he is contacted by the legendary hacker Morpheus. Neo wakes up in the real world, a ravaged wasteland. He finds out that most human r are not born, but are created by machines so that they’re not a can harvest their bioelectric and heat energy and fulfill their electricity needs. The minds of such people are imprisoned in an artificial reality known as the Matrix. Now a rebel, Neo learns about his role in the reality and must confront the agents, programs which all rebels fear, who plan on destroying the rebels and destroying the entire human existence.
