10. Jitsuwata, The Truth Is I Am… (Jitsu wa Watashi wa)

Jitsuwata, The Truth Is I Am... (Jitsu wa Watashi wa)Synopsis – One day after school, Asahi Kuromine stumbles upon the truth that Youko Shiragami, the girl he has a crush on, is actually a vampire. According to her father’s rules, Youko must now quit school in order to keep her family safe. However, Asahi does not want her to go and promises that he will keep her true nature secret. Unfortunately, this turns out to be easier said than done, as Asahi is a man who is easy to read and is unable to keep any secrets to himself. And this is the only the beginning of his troubles—more supernatural beings enter his life, and he is forced to protect all of their identities or face the consequences.

Similarity – The same situation where it involves the MC guy meeting with very mysterious girls with special abilities, except in Yamada-kun to 7 Majo the guy is an ass, while in JW the guy is more of a wuss. Both have a fun cast of characters that make the whole experience enjoyable.

9. ReLIFE

ReLIFESynopsis – Arata Kaizaki is an unemployed, single 27-year-old who has just been cut off from his parents’ financial support. Unable to find a job due to him leaving his previous employer within three months, he is stuck. One night after drinking with a high school friend, Arata meets Ryō Yoake, a man who offers Arata pills to turn him back into a 17-year old so he can redo his life. After agreeing to the experiment, Arata joins a high school class, and meets Chizuru Hishiro, a socially-awkward silent beauty who yearns to have friends. Through connecting with her and other classmates, Arata must find what he lacks to live a happy life in the real world within a one-year time limit.

Similarity – Whenever i saw Kaizaki, he always reminds me of Yamada.. Both school life anime with good friendship, romance and comedy. Both Kaizaki and Yamada always try to help people around them.

8. Charlotte

CharlotteSynopsis- While on the surface Yuu Otosaka appears to be just another charming and intelligent teenager, he has a secret—he has the ability to slip into people’s minds and fully control their body for five seconds at a time. Yuu has been using this skill for years to gain the highest grades, which allowed him to enter a prestigious high school. An original story from Jun Maeda, creator of Angel Beats and Clannad, Charlotte explores the supernatural lives of these teenagers and the price they must pay for being special.

Similarity – Main characters have unique powers only they can use. Those who have such powers are gathered in one place. Similar powers such as switching bodies, turning invisible and more. Both have comedy, romance and drama. One deals with witches and the other something other worldly.

7. Kiznaiver

KiznaiverSynopsis – Katsuhira Agata is a quiet and reserved teenage boy whose sense of pain has all but vanished. His friend, Chidori Takashiro, can only faintly remember the days before Katsuhira had undergone this profound change. Now, his muffled and complacent demeanor make Katsuhira a constant target for bullies, who exploit him for egregious sums of money. But their fists only just manage to make him blink, as even emotions are far from his grasp

Similarity – The main characters all get together through a power that has connected them.
Both are in a school with most of the story being character driven.

6. Date A Live

Date A LiveSynopsis – Thirty years before the events of Date A Live, an enormous explosion devastates east Asia and kills 150 million people. This is the first known “Spacequake”, an inexplicable natural disaster that has since become commonplace. Fast forward to the future. High school second year Shidou Itsuka lives alone with his cute little sister while their parents are away. What do these things have to do with each other? While rushing to save his sister from a sudden Spacequake, Shidou is caught in the blast and, in the midst of the chaos, finds a mysterious girl. It turns out that this girl is actually a Spirit, a powerful being from another world whose arrival devastates the surrounding area. Thankfully, Shidou is rescued by an anti-Spirit strike team… led by his little sister?!

Similarity – Plot involves Male MC dealing with girls having supernatural powers, and by getting them to kiss, either seals power shut or reveals what power the girl has. Only difference is genre-based on magic vs “other-worldly” / (I wouldn’t describe Tohka as an alien?) and Male MC behavior on delinquent vs average Joe.

5. Kokoro Connect

Kokoro ConnectSynopsis – One day, Aoki and Yui experience a strange incident when, without warning, they switch bodies for a short period of time. As this supernatural phenomenon continues to occur randomly amongst the five friends, they begin to realize that it is not just fun and games. Now forced to become closer than ever, they soon discover each other’s hidden secrets and emotional scars, which could end up tearing the StuCS and their friendship apart.

Similarity – Both series plot includes a group of individuals that have their conciousness/body swaped. Kokoro Connect Is a rather more dramatic series that revolves around relationships and the “Painful scars hidden within their hearts.” Both contain comedy but Kokoro connect is more dramatic based. If you enjoyed Kokoro You will enjoy Yamada. If you’ve Just finished Yamada and want something in similar taste and plot Kokoro Is you go to anime.

4. Nisekoi: False Love

Nisekoi False LoveSynopsis – As a child, Raku Ichijo made a secret promise with his childhood sweetheart, keeping a pendant as a memento while his love took the key. He dreams of one day meeting his past love, but years later, reality smashes his hopes when Chitoge Kirisaki accidentally knees him in the face. Though Raku’s a normal high schooler, his family heads the notorious yakuza gang the Shuei-Gumi faction. And he’s dragged into family affairs when he’s forced into a relationship with Chitoge, the daughter of a rival gang’s boss.

Similarity – Nisekoi and Yamada-kun are the two romantic shonen respectively of Shounen Jump and Shounen Magazine. Both of romantic comedy somewhat similar-themed but each work with its unique way, if you like romantic comedies that make you die laughing but also that you hold the story and who leave one wanting more, these works are for you.

3. The World God Only Knows (Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai)

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (The World God Only Knows)Synopsis – Keima Katsuragi, known online as the legendary “God of Conquest,” can conquer any girl’s heart—in dating sim games, at least. In reality, he opts for the two-dimensional world of gaming over real life because he is an unhealthily obsessed otaku of galge games (a type of Japanese video game centered on interactions with attractive girls). When he arrogantly accepts an anonymous offer to prove his supremacy at dating sim games, Keima is misled into aiding a naïve and impish demon from hell named Elucia “Elsie” de Lute Ima with her mission: retrieving runaway evil spirits who have escaped from hell and scattered themselves throughout the human world.

Similarity – Yamada-kun & TWGOK share similar plotline of accidentally dealing with supernaturals and the mission of “conquering” girls by kissing them which indirectly adds to a hidden harem. MC gets dragged from their comfort zone and by the end has their life changed by interaction with others. Only difference is the MC is either an otaku vs delinquent.

2. Love Tyrant (Renai Boukun)

Love Tyrant (Renai Boukun)Synopsis – When a strange girl named Guri comes knocking at Seiji Aino’s door, he quickly finds himself thrust into a world of romantic troubles. Claiming that she will die if he doesn’t kiss someone within 24 hours, Guri’s pleas of desperation are misunderstood as pleas for love, leading Seiji to kiss the cute stranger that came barging into his house. In actuality, it turns out that this cosplaying cupid is the wielder of a Kiss Note, in which any pairing of names she writes will kiss and become a couple. Guri explains that she misspelt and accidentally wrote Seiji’s name while indulging in her yaoi fantasies, but because she had yet to pair him with anyone, their kiss was meaningless. Even worse, Guri reveals that if Seiji is not coupled with anyone soon, not only will she die, but Seiji will remain a virgin for eternity

Similarity – These anime both have a lot to do with the concept of the kiss, and the main premise being based around it (getting powers from kissing, having to kiss because it’s a death note spoof). Both also have very good comedic aspects, with a variety of female characters that coordinate well with the male MC.

1. Trinity Seven

Trinity SevenSynopsis – Main male protagonist Kasuna Arata finds his world turned upside-down one morning when a magical disaster known as a “Breakdown Phenomenon” destroys his hometown and claims the life of his childhood friend. After receiving a Grimoire (book of spells) and a sudden encounter with a Mage sent to destroy him, he decides to join forces and enlists in a magical school charged with training magicians to deal with these disasters. Now enrolled and underway with his training, he finds himself butting heads with an organization out to destroy the world, a harem of deadly magicians at his back and his new-found powers threatening to destroy him while the world hangs in the balance.

Similarity – Both main character gets involved with 7 people which changes his daily life and on the other hand changes also the 7 people’s personality or daily routines. Both anime shows harem but more especially in Trinity Seven, while in Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo it shows romance. Plus both are comedies.
