The next day, Keiichiro finds her making breakfast for him. Thus begin the summer days of an android with no memories and a dreamless boy.

Similarity – Angel, and Isla are very similar. Both involve a futuristic setting where androids are a common commodity. One involves androids with an expiration date whereas the other involves an outdated Android. Both stories have a fair share of comedy and drama. Lastly, both show the relation of android and human as a family.

8. Black Bullet

Black BulletSynopsis – In the year 2021, a parasitic virus known as “Gastrea” infects humans and turns them into monsters. What is left of mankind now lives within the Monolith walls, walls that are made of Varanium, the only material that can hurt Gastrea. To counter the threat that the Gastrea pose, “Cursed Children”—female children whose bodies contain trace amounts of the virus which grant them superhuman abilities—officially called Initiators by the Tendo Civil Security, are given partners called Promoters, people who work to guide and protect the young Initiators. These teams of two are sent out on missions to fight the monsters created by the Gastrea virus and keep them at bay.

Similarity – “Black Bullet” and “Plastic Memories” focus on a team of two partners made up of a boy and a girl who work to help a futuristic society through straightforward assignments. In their line of work, there is also the role of a guardian who mostly looks over the other partner who does most of the job.nFurthermore, the female leads of both these two shows have a limit as to how long they can continue to live due to a restriction inherent within their bodies.

7. Clannad

ClannadSynopsis – One day while walking to school, Tomoya passes a young girl muttering quietly to herself. Without warning, she exclaims “Anpan!” (a popular Japanese food) which catches Tomoya’s attention. Similarity – This shows are similar as in it can get very depressing at times but all around has a compelling story that really defines each character well and can create a strong bond between the viewer and characters. Both of these shows made me bawl like a child. Both feature lovable characters that really make you feel for them. If you love a good tear-jerker you’d love either one.

6. Time of Eve (Eve no Jikan)

Time of Eve (Eve no Jikan)Synopsis – In future Japan, in a time when android housekeepers have become commonplace, society strictly abides by the Three Laws of Robotics, which all androids must follow. Rikuo Sakisaka was raised to accept society’s precept about androids and is perfectly aware that they are not human. That is, until the day he discovers a strange message buried within the activity logs of his household android, Sammy. This leads him to Eve no Jikan, a cafe with only one rule that its patrons must adhere to: there must be no distinction made between humans and androids. Curiosity drives Rikuo to learn more about the shop, and he attempts to unearth the reason behind Sammy’s peculiar behavior.

Similarity – A group of misfit supernaturals wherein the mafia gets involved and death and staying dead are pretty much plot devices played with. A large cast with all kinds of fun tropes, and a similar aesthetic as far as clothing and the scenery goes. You get these two gems Baccano! and Bungou Stray Dogs.

5. Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada ShiranaiSynopsis – Five childhood friends grow apart after the death of Meiko Honma, close playmate of them all. Jinta Yadomi, leader of the group when they were kids, neglects high school and lives as a shut-in when he unexpectedly starts seeing the ghost of Meiko, who can only interact with him and no one else. At first, Jinta thinks that he is merely hallucinating due to the summer heat, but he is later on convinced that what he sees truly is the ghost of Menma. She has returned to ask Jinta to fulfill the forgotten wish she made as a kid.

Similarity – Well, apart from the fact that the protagonists of both of the anime(Tsukasa and Isla in Plastic Memories-and Jintan and Menma in AnoHana) look like a lot, you would find similarities even with their stories…As yes you are going to laugh, get a cuteness overload, you are going to need for a romantic hug with your significant other while you watch it and much pain and sadness to the end-and no that’s not a spoiler because we all see it coming- for BOTH…
Get tissues and enjoy the masterpiece of both of these anime…

4. Violet Evergarden

Violet EvergardenSynopsis – The Great War finally came to an end after four long years of conflict; fractured in two, the continent of Telesis slowly began to flourish once again. Caught up in the bloodshed was Violet Evergarden, a young girl raised for the sole purpose of decimating enemy lines. Recovering from her wounds, Violet starts a new life working at CH Postal Services after a falling out with her new intended guardian family. There, she witnesses by pure chance the work of an “Auto Memory Doll,” amanuenses that transcribe people’s thoughts and feelings into words on paper. Moved by the notion, Violet begins work as an Auto Memory Doll, a trade that will take her on an adventure, one that will reshape the lives of her clients and hopefully lead to self-discovery.

Similarity – Both anime are tagged as Supernatural, Comedy, and Action.BSD’s main character Atsushi has one of the most wanted superpowers just like Seigi in Taboo Tattoo. Although the supporting characters are really different, the MCs are almost the same: both had a sorrowful past and both are trying to get stronger, since the lives of the ones they love may be in danger. Both shows share some strange comedy and pretty much the same course of action

3. Angel Beats!

Angel BeatsSynopsis – Otonashi awakens only to learn he is dead. Otonashi decides to join the SSS and battle Tenshi, but he finds himself oddly drawn to her. While trying to regain his memories and understand Tenshi, he gradually unravels the mysteries of the afterlife.

Similarity – Both of these beautiful series starts off a little slow at first, but after a few episodes it starts catching up speed and the romance between the to MCs begin to unravel. they are both so bitter-sweet and they with definitely take you on an emotional rollercoaster. if you have seen one, you’ll love the other one too. and remember to prepare the tissues

2. Psycho-Pass

Psycho PassSynopsis – The series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person’s state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term “Psycho-Pass” in the anime’s title refers to a standard used to measure an individual’s being. Into this world steps Akane Tsunemori, a young woman with an honest desire to uphold justice. However, as she works alongside veteran Enforcer Shinya Kougami, she soon learns that the Sibyl System’s judgments are not as perfect as her fellow Inspectors assume. The story centers around the “enforcement officer” Shinya Kōgami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.

Similarity – Even it’s could call that both of this anime are in the different genre but, the futuristic theme and a bit of lighting effect with a few of plot point that similar to each other you could say that if you loved Psycho-Pass and you have watched it before you might like Plastic Memories. These both anime may just give us people living in the present a glimpse of this [grim and dim] future.

1. Chobits

ChobitsSynopsis – In the future, personal computers have developed into “Persocoms”, mobile computers that look like human beings. Hideki Motosuwa, a prep school student, desperately wants to buy a Persocom but cannot afford to. One day he finds a Persocom that has been thrown away and decides to keep it. When he turns on the Persocom, all she can say is “Chii” so he decides to name her that. After a while, it starts to become apparent that Chii is more than an average Persocom. Having much better performance, it seems that Chii might be a “Chobit”, a type of advanced Persocom rumored to have independent thought.

Similarity – A world where androids are a common thing and people live alongside them. The main character in each stumbles upon a beautiful android that he gets to know, live with, and eventually starts developing feelings for. In Chobits, they know how to distinguish a human from an android, wherein Plastic Memories people don’t. And even though people in Chobits also have relationships with androids, the difference is that in Chobits androids stay functional an unlimited set of time, wherein Plastic Memories, they don’t function for too long and because of that, Plastic Memories can bring a much more emotional story about a relationship between human and android. Chobits goes more by the mystery than by the romance, but still, it is the most recommended watch I can make you.
