The protagonist, Abel Nightroad, is a traveling priest from the Vatican and a crusnik, a vampire that drinks the blood of vampires. He is a member of the “Ax”, a special operations group led by Cardinal Catherina Sforza. He encounters a young girl called Esther, who decides to go with him to Rome and train at the Vatican. Soon after he meets her, the order of Rozencreuz, led by Abel’s twin, Cain, tries to continue the war so they can rule the world. It’s up to Abel and the AX to try and stop them.

Similarity –Trinity Blood is a series set in a post-apocalyptic world. The war between humans (Terrans) and vampires (Methuselah) continues as a struggle between two factions: the Vatican and the New Human Empire. Yet, amidst the bloodshed and violence, many desire a peaceful co-existence between the two species. However, standing between them and this goal is the Rosenkreuz Orden, a group of extremists who manipulate the two sides and for their own gain.

9. Koutetsujou no Kabaneri

Synopsis – The world is in the midst of the industrial revolution when horrific creatures emerge from a mysterious virus, ripping through the flesh of humans to sate their never-ending appetite. The only way to kill these beings, known as “Kabane,” is by destroying their steel-coated hearts. However, if bitten by one of these monsters, the victim is doomed to a fate worse than death, as the fallen rise once more to join the ranks of their fellow undead.

Only the most fortified of civilizations have survived this turmoil, as is the case with the island of Hinomoto, where mankind has created a massive wall to protect themselves from the endless hordes of Kabane. The only way into these giant fortresses is via heavily-armored trains, which are serviced and built by young men such as Ikoma. Having created a deadly weapon that he believes will easily pierce through the hearts of Kabane, Ikoma eagerly awaits the day when he will be able to fight using his new invention. Little does he know, however, that his chance will come much sooner than he expected…

Similarity – Kabaneri and Owari no Seraph both displays the downfall of humanity and the superiority of supernatural beings (Kabane and Vampires) over humans. It also shows the courage and boldness of humans to fight those beings in order to retrieve back the world which once they owned. For the main characters, Mika (OnS) and Ikoma (KnK), they have the blood of the creatures that conquers their world. Mika became a vampire and Ikoma is half-human and half-kabane (kabaneri)

8. Guilty Crown

Anime With Less Than 30 Episodes

Synopsis- Japan, 2039. Ten years after the outbreak of the “Apocalypse Virus,” an event solemnly regarded as “Lost Christmas,” the once proud nation has fallen under the rule of the GHQ, an independent military force dedicated to restoring order. Funeral Parlor, a guerilla group led by the infamous Gai Tsutsugami, act as freedom fighters, offering the only resistance to GHQ’s cruel despotism.

Inori Yuzuriha, a key member of Funeral Parlor, runs into the weak and unsociable Shuu Ouma during a crucial operation, which results in him obtaining the “Power of Kings”—an ability which allows the wielder to draw out the manifestations of an individual’s personality, or “voids.” Now an unwilling participant in the struggle against GHQ, Shuu must learn to control his newfound power if he is to help take back Japan once and for all.

Guilty Crown follows the action-packed story of a young high school student who is dragged into a war, possessing an ability that will help him uncover the secrets of the GHQ, Funeral Parlor, and Lost Christmas. However, he will soon learn that the truth comes at a far greater price than he could have ever imagined.

Similarity – Guilty Crown revolves around a male lead trying to save the world in which they live. Both shows take place in a Dystopian society except that Guilty Crown is a little more futuristic. In Guilty Crown, humanity suffers from a crystallized version of cancer where in Seraph, they fall to a virus that kills all adults. The MC in Guilty Crown is an innocent student dragged into the plot while in Seraph it’s basically the same thing, except he is an orphan. Both anime have the same composer as well (Hiroyuki Sawano) so the soundtracks sound very very similar.

7. Darling in the FranXX

Synopsis – In the distant future, humanity has been driven to near-extinction by giant beasts known as Klaxosaurs, forcing the surviving humans to take refuge in massive fortress cities called Plantations. Children raised here are trained to pilot giant mechas known as FranXX—the only weapons known to be effective against the Klaxosaurs—in boy-girl pairs. Bred for the sole purpose of piloting these machines, these children know nothing of the outside world and are only able to prove their existence by defending their race.

Hiro, an aspiring FranXX pilot, has lost his motivation and self-confidence after failing an aptitude test. Skipping out on his class’ graduation ceremony, Hiro retreats to a forest lake, where he encounters a mysterious girl with two horns growing out of her head. She introduces herself by her codename Zero Two, which is known to belong to an infamous FranXX pilot known as the “Partner Killer.” Before Hiro can digest the encounter, the Plantation is rocked by a sudden Klaxosaur attack. Zero Two engages the creature in her FranXX, but it is heavily damaged in the skirmish and crashes near Hiro. Finding her partner dead, Zero Two invites Hiro to pilot the mecha with her, and the duo easily defeats the Klaxosaur in the ensuing fight. With a new partner by his side, Hiro has been given a chance at redemption for his past failures, but at what cost?

Similarity –Both are set in a post apocalyptic-ish worlds, in which the main group of characters is fighting to save humanity. The characters are also very similar for e.g. Zero Two is quite literally the same person as Shinoa Hirag

6. God Eater

God Eater

Synopsis – The year is 2071. Humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction following the emergence of man-eating monsters called “Aragami” that boast an immunity to conventional weaponry. They ravaged the land, consuming almost everything in their path and leaving nothing in their wake. To combat them, an organization named Fenrir was formed as a last-ditch effort to save humanity through the use of “God Eaters”—special humans infused with Oracle cells, allowing them to wield the God Arc, the only known weapon capable of killing an Aragami. One such God Eater is Lenka Utsugi, a New-Type whose God Arc takes the form of both blade and gun.

Now, as one of Fenrir’s greatest weapons, Lenka must master his God Arc if he is to fulfill his desire of wiping out the Aragami once and for all. The monsters continue to be born en masse while the remnants of humanity struggle to survive the night. Only God Eaters stand between the Aragami and complete and total annihilation of the human race.

Similarity – -Both series are about a destroyed world, in Owari no Seraph because of a virus which made also Vampires and Horsemen of the Apocalypse emerged from the darkness and fight against humans, while in God Eater destroyed by monsters named Aragami.
-In Owari no Seraph humans made an organization known as Imperial Demon Army which is fighting against Vampires using powerful Demon weapons unlike in God Eater an organization known as Fenrir which exterminates Aragami using weapons called God Arcs.
-The protagonist in both series join those organizations fighting with his team against Vampires/Aragami.

5. Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Code Geass

Synopsis –In the year 2010, the Holy Empire of Britannia is establishing itself as a dominant military nation, starting with the conquest of Japan. Renamed to Area 11 after its swift defeat, Japan has seen significant resistance against these tyrants in an attempt to regain independence.

Lelouch Lamperouge, exiled prince of Britannia, unfortunately, finds himself caught in a crossfire between the two nations’ armed forces. He is able to escape, however, thanks to the timely appearance of a mysterious girl named C.C., who bestows upon him Geass, the “Power of Kings.” Realizing the vast potential of his newfound “power of absolute obedience,” Lelouch embarks upon a perilous journey as the masked vigilante known as Zero, leading a merciless onslaught against Britannia in order to get revenge once and for all.

Similarity – Both are focused on fighting in military/ army, army commands troops to fight with mecha in Code Geass and BADASS CURSED GEAR weapons in Owari no Seraph. Both have the main characters fighting against each other. Lastly Owari no Seraph is an AMAZING ROLLER COASTER ANIME like Code Geass !!!!!!! Feels like watching BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE THAN ANIME! Get hooked in the first episode with the INTENSE SPEED!

4. Aldnoah.Zero

Synopsis – The discovery of a hypergate on the Moon once allowed the human race to teleport to Mars. Those who chose to settle there unearthed a technology far more advanced than that of their home planet, which they named “Aldnoah.” This discovery led to the founding of the Vers Empire of Mars and a declaration of war against the “Terrans,” those who stayed behind on Earth. However, a battle on the moon—later called “Heaven’s Fall”—caused the hypergate to explode, destroying the moon and leading the two planets to establish an uneasy ceasefire.

Their peace was a fragile one, however. Fifteen years later, high school student Inaho Kaizuka witnesses the plotted assassination of the Vers Empire’s Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia, who had come to Earth in hopes of repairing the relationship between the empire and its homeland. The ceasefire is shattered, and the Martians declare war on the Terrans once again. In the face of this insurmountable enemy, Inaho and his friends must now fight against the Vers Empire to settle the war once and for all.

Similarity – This two anime series give a similar vibe since there are two main guys on different “sides” (in the case of Aldnoah one fights with Earth and the other one Mars, in Seraph one with the humans and the other one with the vampires)
And not just that, but the characters of Mika and Slaine are really similar – both of them feel they are “betraying” their own “sides”.
Both series also have schools that train children in order for them to fight against their enemies
So, even though Seraph doesn’t have any mechas unlike Aldnoah, I think that if you like one of them, watching the other one you’ll see how similar they are, and enjoying one of them will make you like the other one as well

3. Ao no Exorcist

Ao no Exorcist

Synopsis – Humans and demons are two sides of the same coin, as are Assiah and Gehenna, their respective worlds. The only way to travel between the realms is by the means of possession, like in ghost stories. However, Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, cannot find a suitable host to possess and therefore, remains imprisoned in his world. In a desperate attempt to conquer Assiah, he sends his son instead, intending for him to eventually grow into a vessel capable of possession by the demon king.

Ao, no Exorcist follows Rin Okumura who appears to be an ordinary, somewhat troublesome teenager—that is until one day he is ambushed by demons. His world turns upside down when he discovers that he is, in fact, the very son of Satan and that his demon father wishes for him to return so they can conquer Assiah together. Not wanting to join the king of Gehenna, Rin decides to begin training to become an exorcist so that he can fight to defend Assiah alongside his brother Yukio.

Similarity – – Both of the main characters wanna kill all the enemies but isn’t that the thing in every shounen out there..same with other characters that are rivals with each other and stuff, they were pretty similar.
– One thing is also that Yuu and Rin both have brothers that they love<3 Though when talking more about characters, OnS designs were like copies of series that have already come..just lazy (for example, Yuu looked like Basara in smnTestament) Gomen fans!
– At the end (watchers know) Yuu reminded me of Rin and some other demons in ane
– The school in OnS reminded me a lot of ane. It looked kinda the same.
– If you wanna watch just one of them I’d recommend Ao no Exorcist, It’s a lot better even though I didn’t really like the ending that much.

2. Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul

Synopsis – Tokyo has become a cruel and merciless city—a place where vicious creatures called “ghouls” exist alongside humans. The citizens of this once great metropolis live in constant fear of these bloodthirsty savages and their thirst for human flesh. However, the greatest threat these ghouls pose is their dangerous ability to masquerade as humans and blend in with society.

Based on the best-selling supernatural horror manga by Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul follows Ken Kaneki, a shy, bookish college student, who is instantly drawn to Rize Kamishiro, an avid reader like himself. However, Rize is not exactly who she seems, and this unfortunate meeting pushes Kaneki into the dark depths of the ghouls’ inhuman world. In a twist of fate, Kaneki is saved by the enigmatic waitress Touka Kirishima, and thus begins his new, secret life as a half-ghoul/half-human who must find a way to integrate into both societies.

Similarity – Both series are about humans vs. “monster” (ghouls in Tokyo Ghoul, vampires in Owari no Seraph).
Both are very violent, bloody and kind of emotional/psychological.
Both have the same number of episodes, 2 Seasons of 12 episodes and will probably have the 3rd Season in the future
In both anime, the main character at the beginning is a normal boy that as a transformation (Kaneki as half-ghoul, Yuu as demon weapon)
In both the humans are the weak ones so they use other things to fight (quinque in Tokyo Ghoul, demon weapons in Owari no Seraph)
Both main characters find a new “family” and have to safe their best friend (in Owari no Seraph the friend becomes a vampire).
Both are so similar!
Are great, violent and have a lot of suspense… I really recommend both!

1. Shingeki no Kyojin

Shingeki no Kyojin or Attack on Titan

Synopsis – Centuries ago, mankind was slaughtered to near extinction by monstrous humanoid creatures called Titans, forcing humans to hide in fear behind enormous concentric walls. What makes these giants truly terrifying is that their taste for human flesh is not born out of hunger but what appears to be out of pleasure. To ensure their survival, the remnants of humanity began living within defensive barriers, resulting in one hundred years without a single titan encounter. However, that fragile calm is soon shattered when a colossal titan manages to breach the supposedly impregnable outer wall, reigniting the fight for survival against the man-eating abominations.

After witnessing a horrific personal loss at the hands of the invading creatures, Eren Yeager dedicates his life to their eradication by enlisting into the Survey Corps, an elite military unit that combats the merciless humanoids outside the protection of the walls. Based on Hajime Isayama’s award-winning manga, Shingeki no Kyojin follows Eren, along with his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, as they join the brutal war against the Titans and race to discover a way of defeating them before the last walls are breached.

Similarity – They’re basically the same thing with different enemies. Post-apocalyptic setting with humanity inside a wall to keep the bad guys out. The main characters are the squad of badasses that venture outside the walls and kill the bad guys. The main characters are basically the same dumb-as-rocks, brown-haired, green-eyed, slightly-shorter-than-average, sixteen-year-old boy, hellbent on revenge against the bad guys, though Eren is slightly dumber. There’s also the mentor character who is way more badass than the main crew (Levi/Guren), the tall, short-haired rival of the main character (Jean/Shihou), the sweet, adorable, best friend of the main character (Armin/Mikaela and later Yoichi), the girl that follows the main character around and happens to be a total badass (Mikasa/Shinoa)
