10. The Devil is a Part-Timer!

Hataraku Maou sama
Synopsis – In another dimension the Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. As “conquering the world” are the only skills the Devil King possesses – and are obviously unnecessary in his new situation – he must work as a freeter to pay for his living expenses.

Similarity –Both of these shows feature supreme beings trying to take over the world with their demon generals in tow… and that’s about where the similarities end. So why should you watch Overlord? If you enjoyed seeing Maou attempt to take over Ente Isla in the first few minutes of the anime and want to know how he got to that point – namely an anime that explores the process of a villain subjugating the world – then Overlord is for you.

9. Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar (Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions)Synopsis – When Haruhito awakens, he’s in the dark. He doesn’t know where he is, why is he here, and where he came from. Around him there are several men and women who have the same circumstances. Haruhito and his companions find themselves in a “game-like world” called Grimgar and must form a party, cooperate, and learn new skills to survive the harsh environment together.

Similarity – Game mechanics are important as the setting of the animes. They place importance on life or death in HP, and remain as a character’s lifeline throughout the whole anime as a game mechanic.
The game’s nature is fantasy. Swords and magic skills are decided.

8. Akame ga Kill!

Akame ga KillSynopsis- Tatsumi is a self-acknowledge country bumpkin who is nonetheless a well trained fighter. He and two companions leave their remote village to head to the Imperial City to find a way to relieve their friends and family from ruinous taxation imposed by the authorities. Yet the Imperial City is filled with unimaginable amounts of corruption and evil from supernatural sources. Tatsumi is immediately swindled after reaching the City and nearly loses everything soon after, but finds himself allied with an unlikely group of assassins.

Similarity – They both seem to have lots of action and bad-ass fighting sequences with lots of comic relief. If you didn’t want to watch one I would recommend the other.

However, developments in the game’s story, such as the return of a demon king, may cause a nuisance to Satou’s plans.

Similarity – They both got to a game world(in Overlord, the MC is stuck) and bassicaly they both is so op ( Death March mc got op all of a sudden and it’s awesome)
The game’s nature is fantasy. Swords and magic skills are decided.

5. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
Synopsis –As an adventurer living in Orario, Bell Cranel becomes the only member of Hestia Familia. Although he was very weak compared to veteran dungeon crawlers, he gained a special skill that enables him to become stronger quickly as long as his feelings towards Aiz, the Sword Princess whom he looks up to, does not change. With the help of his Goddess, Hestia and other people who cares for him, he vows to be strong enough to stand side-by-side with Aiz and protect everyone important to him.

Similarity – Both have a trapped in a game feel to them. However both focus more on the life in the game. While How to Pick Up Girls is not clearely a trapped in a game anime, it sure feels like one. Overlord is a trapped in a game anime. Where both have common ground is that they both accept the world they are in as is and make the most of it and don’t treated it like a game.

4. One Punch Man

Synopsis – The seemingly ordinary and unimpressive Saitama has a rather unique hobby: being a hero. In order to pursue his childhood dream, he trained relentlessly for three years—and lost all of his hair in the process. Now, Saitama is incredibly powerful, so much so that no enemy is able to defeat him in battle. In fact, all it takes to defeat evildoers with just one punch has led to an unexpected problem—he is no longer able to enjoy the thrill of battling and has become quite bored.

This all changes with the arrival of Genos, a 19-year-old cyborg, who wishes to be Saitama’s disciple after seeing what he is capable of. Genos proposes that the two join the Hero Association in order to become certified heroes that will be recognized for their positive contributions to society, and Saitama, shocked that no one knows who he is, quickly agrees. And thus begins the story of One Punch Man, an action-comedy that follows an eccentric individual who longs to fight strong enemies that can hopefully give him the excitement he once felt and just maybe, he’ll become popular in the process.

Similarity – Overlord and One Punch Man got similar style while having different setting. You can tell the anime would be similar as their openings are similar style music. The main characters Momonga/Ainz and Saitama are also extremely strong, but not OP lame, they’re strong that you want to see them go in FOR THE KILL !!!!! Dependable heroes.

Using their combined intellect, questionable morals and considerable guile, it is up to these siblings to swindle their way to the top in a series of increasingly intriguing and deceptively deadly games.

Similarity – Both animes involove leaving the real world and entering the gaming world. The main protagonist(s) of both animes prefer the gaming world and would prefer to stay there instead of leaving, which is different to your typical rpg anime. No game no life has more of a comical twist to the story whereas Overlord is a slight bit more serious
